Construction waste becomes the resource of the future
Latvia's first stationary construction waste processing complex has been installed in Jaunmārupe. AS BAO converts materials generated during the construction process into high-value raw materials for road construction and improvement.
Until now, concrete blocks, tiles and structures ended up in landfills. Now, thanks to the support of the European Union, construction waste is becoming a resource.
A stationary construction waste processing and sorting facility, unique in the Baltics, has been installed in Jaunmārupe. The investment worth more than a million euros is a significant step in the development of Latvia’s circular economy. The technology of the German manufacturer Prall-Tec GmbH with innovative rotating hammers and a moving wall ensures the extraction of high-value raw materials. The new facility is located in a strategically advantageous location near the Riga bypass and is able to process concrete, bricks, tiles, wood and metal and other construction waste.
